Vmware-configcheck
You can use this command to check your vmx files. For example run it as:
vmware-configcheck | grep -v PASS
will show all the lines from the output that did NOT pass the configcheck.
example output
# vmware-configcheck PASS /vmfs/volumes/78141e02-84ea5898-92c1-0001b3a0924a/Vista/vista.vmx PASS /vmfs/volumes/78141e1a-046271b8-0a48-0001b3a0924a/CentOS/CentOS.vmx PASS /vmfs/volumes/78141dd7-7b370470-6a0d-0001b3a0924a/Solaris/Solaris.vmx
